The Master, through an integrated theoretical-practical connection, aims to train facilitators of mindfulness-based protocols and contemplative practices under supervision. The Master is set up as a training and research tool in the integration of the Western approach with the East to the study or the definition of mind.
In particular, the Master’s purpose is be to:
1- Define the neurobiological and psychophysiological correlates of meditative practices and their mental and bodily effects;
2- Provide the theoretical-practical basics of mindfulness and contemplative practices used in the various protocols;
3- Provide the skills needed to teach mindfulness-based protocols and other contemplative practices applied in the preclinical and clinical fields.
The Master wants to develop practical, clinical and research knowledge, about mindfulness and associated aspects. The course is directed at graduates interested in developing a concrete professionalism associated with mindfulness-based protocols and associated aspects in the field of neuroscience and contemplative practices. It is aimed at the diverse applications of mindfulness, from clinical, social, institutional/business and educational use.
Through the proposed didactic studies, that sees the interaction between Neuroscience, Mindfulness, and Contemplative Practices, and through the internship activity in which the learner will participate in mindfulness-based observatory protocols and as a supervisor instructor, Mindfulness-Based Protocols certification will be issued.
The Master’s degree program is developed for a period of one academic year, according to an articulation that includes didactic activities consisting of frontal lessons and seminars, alternating with practical stages. The educational program is divided into the following fields:
- Neuroscience Area: to acquire the theoretical-practical knowledge of the neurobiological background of mindfulness and contemplative practices;
- Mindfulness Area: to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge of mindfulness-based protocols, with particular reference to its clinical applications;
- Contemplative Practices Area: Learning about the fundamentals of contemplative methods of the Buddhist tradition, integrated with Western neuroscientific and neuropsychological approaches.
